BEAUTIFUL COLOURS

The colourful look for Spring/Summer 2012
Designers focus on colours the most during the launch of Spring/summer 2012.

Fashion week gave us lots to look forward for the following seasons, and it’s never too early to prepare yourself for the coming months.

So bold colours are here if you want to get noticed, and you’re going to love, some of the beautiful bright colours that are about to hit the High Streets this spring. Whether you’re looking at tailored or feminine, just a catchy bit of accessory or the whole outfit, the eye catching hues, neon’s, to citrus,  and energizing colours like coral and magenta. And soft pastel hues like lilac and sage and nautical colours like cobalt blue and aqua.
The classic muted, subtle tones like black and white are almost always in style; acid colours are having a huge appeal this spring! Hot to soft colours like tangerine-orange, purples, blues and yellows that we cannot resist! Pair these bright colours with neutral pieces, especially white, to stand out in the crowd but not be too over the top and this spring is no exception and with a bit of determination to get out of the drab winter blues, this could really get you off the pavement and onto the catwalk.

So not only has colour made a huge comeback, but so have wacky and colourful prints. Designers this season really stepped out of the box with fearless combinations of bright colours in bold prints, featured on everything from dresses, coats, swimwear to handbags.

It hasn’t befallen the men’s looks either, bright jackets, and trousers, to shirts and shorts. It’s all about getting noticed and straying away from the drab greys and blacks that seem to dominate the wardrobe.

Get Glammed Up

Eveningwear 2011/12
This season formal wear fashion's is so glamorous! With a touch of flash, and  the wonderful little black dress will take a bit of a twist, with its design statement, and as mentioned a bit of sparkle and will update itself with great sexy necklines.

Regal jewel tones will reign this year in regard to colour in evening garments. The womanly, grown-up sex appeal that began with Marc Jacobs in New York was taken up by Salvatore Ferragamo tonight for an incredibly polished collection that was strictly black and white and masculine fabrics – hounds tooth checks, pinstripes and fine checks, to mix ultra-feminine with a stronger, tailored power dressing.
Almost every dress plunged at the front to meet a skinny leather belt, mixing panels of each fabric with softer dotted prints. For every strapless and backless evening dress there was the masculine version directly afterwards – one pinstripe coat over a waistcoat, blazer and trousers proved that women look just as good in men’s clothes, if not better.
It’s a house of luxury – thick furs and sumptuous leather trench coats attest to that, while glittering lamé dresses and beaded chainmail evening gowns allow the Ferragamo woman some fabulous downtime too. Dress lengths will plummet to the floor, and rise to the occasion to reveal lots of leg, in the form of the mini skirt. The most popular length will be just above or just below the knee. This length seems to compliment the majority of women.
For men Modern or contemporary? That is the question. Many designers have opted out from the classic tuxedo for eveningwear and have replaced it by velvet blazers and tail coats. A splash of very tactile fabrics to express soft elegance that still is meant to be caught by the young. Indeed the whole concept is to separate the idea of sophistication with tradition and old manners. This is where the word contemporary gets is full illustration, the spin is brought from a daywear inspired by classic eveningwear.

Perfect pastels

Soft Colours for 2011/12
No colour palette sums up the fresh feeling of spring like pastels. These uniquely feminine shades were all over the NY and London Fashion Week runways and they’re essential to an on-trend spring/summer 2012 wardrobe. Great with a tan and perfect for those who like their look clean and minimal, utilise colour-blocking with a simple shift, or break it up with crisp, fresh white pieces – another must-have spring shade.

Diane von Furstenberg’s line matched mint blouses and clutches with orange-tan trousers and blues contrasted with greens. Philip Lim went sherbet flavoured with his looks: Light purple; peach and pink were mixed together with white touches for a light-hearted feel. Look to spring/summer 2012 for renewed energy, optimism and the promise of a brighter day with bright have colours that can help to alter a mood and provide the vitality and enthusiasm that enables to experiment with new looks and colour.
Vera Wang featured the hot pink, purple and mint green that have emerged as top shades for next season in her collections. Look at Etro, D&G and Proenza for soft orange hues within their catwalk, Carolina Herrera for pinks, these entire soft colours area great soft colour trend for mixing and matching with bolder accessories to make them stand out.

Taking the delicate colours to a more graphic level, Preen quilted an array of tones to create a checkered pattern. The design was used in ladylike blouses and streamlined dresses and worn with solid colours or lace, or contrasted against a black and white print. The collection also featured colour blocking and matching jacket and trouser ensembles.
